Julio Romero de Torres was fundamentally a portrait artist, with his more than 500 portraits he carried out its production, dedicating a great part to the woman. He painted aristocracy and the popular classes, people from different social clases. But where the painter reached his greatest capacity for creation was when he wasn’t limited by the likeness of the solicited portrait. Many of those portraits are studies of expression. Julio painted the features on smaller canveses to later make other more important paintings.
